Why businesses need to wake up to the GDPR
The General Data Protection Regulation is the biggest change to EU data protection law in 20+ years. Businesses must prepare for it while they still can.
GDPR, which comes into full effect 25 May 2018, applies to all companies operating in Europe. Yet studies show that many affected firms are unprepared for GDPR’s changes or, worse, completely unaware of what they entail. GDPR gives EU citizens far greater control over who holds their data and where it lives. Non-compliance fines are the larger of €20 million or 4% of annual turnover, and data breaches must be reported within 72 hours.
In this whitepaper, industry-leading CISOs and lawyers discuss how companies must go about achieving GDPR compliance by the cutoff date—or face the consequences.
